Korean Facetted Honey Jar 18th/19th Century | Medium

Facetted and lidded "honey" jar from Korean in the 18th/19th Century. Known as "Oja" or "Seokganju"  in Korean and known as "Ame-Yu" in Japan, where it was widely admired. These jars are "ame-glazed," a dark brown glaze which resembles a molasses like texture and color. The uneven glaze and variation of strokes which ran during the firing process bring beauty to this uniquely Korean pottery and kitchen ware. This jar is about 6" tall. It comes with its original lid.
